Antiaging secrets – Super antiwrinkle solution Pentaxyl™

April 25, 2010

Pentaxyl™ contains a number of peptides that are also available in other anti-aging creams for sale, as well as other ingredients such as Shea Butter. More specifically, Pentaxyl contains Palmitoyl Pentapeptide 7 which is otherwise known as Matryxil. The ingredients in Pentaxyl are also listed as consisting of Acetyl Hexapeptide 3, an ingredient derived from natural proteins. Acetyl Hexapeptide is also referred to as Argireline, and is said to have a Botox like effect as it relaxes the facial muscles, which in turn minimizes wrinkles caused by recurrent muscle contractions. There is no doubt that Pentaxyl does contain some ingredients in which clinical studies have shown them to have an anti-aging effect on the skin. There is absolutely no evidence however that Pentaxyl is in any way superior to other anti-aging creams available for sale that also contain Argireline and Matryxil. Additionally, many Matryxil based formulas are replacing that active ingredient with the improved peptide Matryxil 3000.

The rest of the ingredient list is a long one, leading to some concern over whether too many ingredients in the formula might decrease the effectiveness of the product. Many of the other ingredients seem to be included for their hydration and antioxidant properties, which can also be beneficial for skin health. For example, shea butter and sesame oil are excellent moisturizers, while vitamins E, C and A can help prevent damage to the skin that can occur from both internal and external factors. Bearberry and licorice extract are added to brighten the skin and diminish spots of discoloration.

Antiaging secrets – wrinkles and antiwrinkle

April 24, 2010

What causes wrinkles?

As a person ages the epidermal cells become thinner and less sticky. The thinner cells make the skin look noticeably thinner. The decreased stickiness of the cells decreases the effectiveness of the barrier function allowing moisture to be released instead of being kept in the skin. This causes dryness. The number of epidermal cells decreases by 10% per decade and they divide more slowly as we age making the skin less able to repair itself quickly.

The effects of aging on the dermal layer are significant. Not only does the dermal layer thin, but also less collagen is produced, and the elastin fibers that provide elasticity wear out. These changes in the scaffolding of the skin cause the skin to wrinkle and sag. Also, sebaceous glands get bigger but produce less sebum, and the number of sweat glands decreases. Both of these changes lead to skin dryness.

The rete-ridges of the dermal-epidermal junction flatten out, making the skin more fragile and making it easier for the skin to shear. This process also decreases the amount of nutrients available to the epidermis by decreasing the surface area in contact with the dermis, also interfering with the skin’s normal repair process.

In the subcutaneous layer the fat cells get smaller with age. This leads to more noticeable wrinkles and sagging, as the fat cells cannot “fill in” the damage from the other layers.

Aging Effects of the Sun and Wrinkles
Exposure to ultraviolet light, UVA or UVB, from sunlight accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging. Most of the photoaging effects occur by age 20. The amount of damage to the skin caused by the sun is determined by the total lifetime amount of radiation exposure and the person’s pigment protection.

Free Radicals and Wrinkles
Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that have only one electron instead of two. Because electrons are found in pairs the molecule must scavenge other molecules for another electron. When the second molecule looses its electron to the first molecule, it must then find another electron repeating the process. This process can damage cell function and alter genetic material. Free radical damage causes wrinkles by activating the metalloproteinases that break down collagen. There are several factors that start this cascading process including exposure to even small amounts of UV radiation in sunlight, smoking, and exposure to air pollution.

Hormone Effects and Wrinkles
It is likely that there are skin changes as a result of the hormonal effects of menopause or decreased estrogen production. However, studies in humans have not documented which skin changes are specific to decreased estrogen and which skin changes are a result of sun exposure or just normal chronological aging. In animal experiments lack of estrogen can cause a decrease in collagen levels of 2% per year and a decrease in skin thickness of 1% per year.

Muscle Use and Wrinkles
Habitual facial expressions cause the skin to wrinkle as it looses elasticity. Frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet radiating from the corners of the eyes develop as the tiny muscles in those areas permanently contract.

Gravity and Wrinkles
The effects of gravity make the loosening of the skin more apparent as skin sags more. This causes jowls and drooping eyelids.

Antiaging Special – Intensive Eye Antiaging Care

April 11, 2010

Your eyes are window of the world and also mirror of yourself. The first sight and impression of you are always reflected through your eyes. Having a bright, firm and healthy eye will sharpen your image.

The eye area is a special issue in skin care as the delicacy of the skin tissue is 5 to 10 times thinner which causes the skin the wrinkle sooner than the rest of the face. It contained fewer sweat glans which normally hydrate and detoxify the skin.  By around 35 to 40 years old, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness begin to appear. But for stress city people with poor diet and daily sleeping habbits, they comes out as early as twenties!

What are the essential solution for these problems?

Renovage (Geranylgeranone) - Anti-aging formula fights against the visible effects of stress by revitalizing cells. Significantly improves the look of the skin’s surface providing a smoother, more uniform appearance.

Human Oligopeptide-7 (Human Oligopeptide-7) - Bio-engineered; helps minimize the visible signs of aging of the skin. Human Oligopeptide-7 is delivered through encapsulated nano-lipsomes to promote skin penetration and helps reduce the appearance of line and wrinkles.  It also promotes normal cellular turnover.

Matrixyl 3000 (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide & Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) - Peptide blend that acts to help maintain skin’s youthful appearance. Promotes collagen and elastin production by supporting the cells of the extracellular matrix (fibroblasts), thereby helping reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Niacinamide (Niacinamide) - Derivative of vitamin B3 (Niacin) that suppresses melanin synthesis and aids in reducing the appearance of discoloration (hyperpigmentation) of the skin.

Glucosyl Hesperidin (Glucosyl Hesperidin) - Supports blood flow to the skin surrounding the eye, allowing for a reduction in the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eye.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) and Mango Butter (Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter)- Helps to soften, moisturize and improve the appearance of skin. Also helps to reduce the puffiness that can occur around the eye.

Honeysuckle Flower (Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower), Jujuba Fruit(Zizyphus jujuba Fruit) and Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root)Extracts - Calms and soothes, while providing nutrients necessary for the protection and retention of healthy skin. Helps to support skin elasticity and firmness.

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate) - An extract from the licorice root that improves skin’s appearance.

Antioxidants work to maintain healthy balance between radicals and antioxidants. As we age, we are exposed to more free radicals and fewer antioxidants. One of the essential antioxidants for topical skin care is Jojoba oil. It contains antioxidants found in vitamin E that work to fight off free radicals. The oil defends the delicate skin of the under-eye area that is so prone to show signs of premature aging.

Human Growth Hormone  Human Oligopeptide-7 (Human Oligopeptide-7) has already been discussed before in http://skinantiaging.wordpress.com/2010/03/30/anti-aging-secrets-%e2%80%93-human-growth-hormone-hgh/ are extremely helpful in induced in cell growth and reproduction.

Enemy of Beauty and Antiaging – Dark Circles!

April 7, 2010

Dark circles are enemies of most of the ladies in the world. Especially in this stressful and busy centuries, working ladies has not enough sleep, stressful work, unhealthy diets and polluted air further enhances dark circles!

Causes of  dark circles included

Heredity

In most cases the dark circles under the eyes are blood vessels that can be seen through the skin. The skin around the eyelids (periorbital skin) is the thinnest skin in the body (around 0.5 mm thick compared with 2 mm in other areas). Like varicose veins, dark circles under the eyes are usually an inherited trait. When blood passes through the large veins close to the surface of the skin it can produce a bluish tint. The more transparent the skin—also an inherited trait—the darker the circles appear. In people with a deep-set bone structure, shadowing contributes to the dark color under the eyes.

Allergies, asthma, and eczema

Any condition that causes the eyes to itch can contribute to darker circles due to rubbing or scratching the skin around them. Hay fever sufferers particularly will notice under-eye “smudges” during the height of the allergy season. Some food allergies can also cause the area under the eyes to appear darker.

Medications

Any medications that cause blood vessels to dilate can cause circles under the eyes to darken. Because the skin under the eyes is very delicate, any increased blood flow shows through the skin.

Anemia

The lack of nutrients in the diet, or the lack of a balanced diet, can contribute to the discoloration of the area under the eyes. It is believed that lack of mineral iron can cause dark circles as well. Iron deficiency is the most common type of anemia and this condition is a sign that not enough oxygen is getting to the body tissues.

The skin can also become more pale during pregnancy and menstruation (due to lack of iron), which again allow the underlying veins under the eyes to become more visible.

Fatigue

A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause paleness of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to become more visible and appear more blue or darker.[citation needed]

Age

Dark circles are likely to become more noticeable and permanent with age. This is because as people get older, skin loses collagen and it gets thinner, and more translucent. Circles may also gradually begin to appear darker in one eye rather than the other as a result of habitual facial expressions, such as an uneven smile.

Medical conditions

Another cause may be bad blood circulation. Cardio exercise increases blood circulation and may help the dark circles to disappear.

Dark eye circles could be a sign of excessive loss of water from the body (dehydration).

Periorbital hyperpigmentation is the official name for when there is more melanin produced around our eyes than usual, giving them a darker colour. We have two main layers of skin, the outer layer of skin (epidermis) and inner layer (dermis). When excess melanin is being made in the epidermis it appears brown, and when there is more than usual melanin in the dermis it looks blue or blue grey.

But how do we get rid of it?

There are numerous method nowadays which can get rid of dark circles include numerous cream, phototherapy, laser therapy. But which are really effective and cheap? It really depends on the causes of the dark circles.

I myself has a big dark circle too and I would like to tackle it! I am going to try out the latest technology with antioxidant and human growth hromone containing products Cellular Laboratories De-aging Eye Creme

Science of Aging of skin

April 5, 2010

Fast Facts About Skin

Skin is the body’s largest organ lIts functions include:

- Serving as the first line of the body’s immune defenses to keeps germs out

–Maintaining water and salt balance within the body

–Cushioning delicate internal organs within the body

Structure of Skin:

Skin aging is due to increased enzymatic activity and reduced cell metabolic activity provoque progressive destruction of the extracellular matrix leading to skin sagging, appearance of wrinkles and other skin problem

Changes experienced when skin ages include skin cells divide slowly, dermis thin, atrophy of sweat and oil producing glands which caused skin to become dry and scaly and reduced ability of skin to repair and heal.

Subcutaneous layer atrophies: underlying support network of elastin and collagen loosens and unravels.  Causes loss of skin elasticity, sags, and furrows. Fine lines and wrinkles develop, worsen with habitual expressionmaking and gravity.

Mechanism of skin aging:

Free radical damage:

–with age, free radicals accumulate in the body’s tissue including the skin

–free radicals are suspected to cause microinflammation, which is associated with loss of elasticity and thinning of the skin

lPhotoaging as the result of sun exposure:

–ultraviolet (UV) radiation accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging

–UV radiation commonly responsible for: •lines and wrinkles •lentigos (brown freckles) •telangiectases (dilated capillaries) •blackheads and whiteheads (comedones) •dry complexion

–UVA rays induce the skin’s matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).  MMPs cause collagen to degrade after sun exposure, causing an uneven matrix of disorganized collagen fibers, called solor scars, leading to wrinkles.

scientists have found that ultraviolet irradiation blocks the ability of skin cells to recognize and respond to an essential nutrient. This triggers a cascade of biochemical changes that upsets the normal balance between healthy and dying skin cells and essentially causes a functional deficiency in human skin.

Anti-Aging Secrets – human Growth Hormone (hGH)

March 30, 2010

Human Growth Hormone (hGH) is a protein based poly-peptide hormone. It stimulates growth and cell reproduction and regeneration in humans and other animals. It is a hormone made by your pituitary gland and secreted throughout your lifetime. Research has shown that declining levels of hGH are directly linked to increasing signs of aging.

Growth hormone is used clinically to treat children’s growth disorders and adult growth hormone deficiency. In recent years, replacement therapies with human growth hormones (hGH) have become popular in the battle against aging and weight management. Use of synthetic hGH reports benefit effects on decreased body fat, increased muscle mass, increased bone density, increased energy levels, improved skin tone and texture, increased sexual function and improved immune system function.

Human Oligopeptide-9, which is named Nano- Claire GYTM, is the first topical application of synthetic hGH. It is produced by nano-technology which enables easy transdermal and transfolicular absorption of the hGH into our skin and body.

AntiAging Skincare Basic Step 3: Moisturization

March 24, 2010

After Step 1 and 2, your skin will be clean and in good pH condition but fragile, as most of the oil for protection is removed!

If you are oily or normal skin, moisturization could be only do once daily as your skin will produce enough sebum as day goes on, but of course need to re-apply if you cleanse your face again. If you are dry skin type, mositurization need to be more vigourous to up to 2 to 3 times a day.

There are different type of mositurers.

Emulsion based moisturizers

Water and oil do not dissolve in each other. When they are mixed together and shaken they form a fine mixture of oil droplets in water or vice versa (depending on the proportions used). Such mixtures can be stabilized with so-called emulsifiers, which are surfactants preventing water and oil droplets from coalescing. Both oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions may be useful for dry skin that produces too little sebum, which is particularly common in women during and after the menopause. Moisturizers based on oil-in-water emulsions tend to be heavier but may be a good fit for some cases of particularly dry skin. Oil-water emulsions tend to be more comedogenic than oil-free moisturizers and should not be used for normal or oily skin.

Occlusive moisturizers

The idea of an occlusive moisturizer is to cover the skin with a waterproof film through which water cannot evaporate or otherwise escape. Occlusive ingredients include petrolatum (a.k.a. Vaseline), mineral oil, siloxanes (dimethicone, cyclomethicone) to name a few. Occlusive ingredients may clog pores and produce other unwanted effects. Siloxanes tend to cause fewer breakouts than petroleum-based ingredients but individual reactions vary. Occlusive moisturizers should be considered for dry skin unresponsive to moisturizers based on oil-water emulsions. This may happen when the primary cause of dryness is excessive water evaporation from the skin surface. In such a case, an occlusive moisturizer, particularly one with a siloxane, may be a better alternative. It is best to apply an occlusive moisturizer over moist skin.

Oil-free moisturizers

Oil-free moisturizers are usually based on the so-called humectants, the substances that can trap and hold water. Some examples include propylene glycol, glycerin, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid, colloidal oatmeal, collagen and others. If you have oily or normal skin and feel the need to moisturize, use an oil-free moisturizer.

Long-lasting moisturizers

In some cases of dry skin or in very dry environments, ordinary moisturizers just don’t cut it. They last for an hour or two and then your skin gets as dry as before. Specially designed long-lasting moisturizers are a viable alternative to having to reapply a moisturizer every two hours. Long-lasting moisturizers usually combine active principles from several types of moisturizers. A typical long-lasting moisturizer may contain several humectants and occlusive agents (e.g. dimethicone, colloidal oatmeal, glycerin, sodium PSA, hyaluronic acid, petrolatum and so forth). Oftentimes, long-lasting moisturizers is an overkill but may be just right for some cases of severe dryness.

Moisturizers as vehicles for active ingredients

Whether to use a basic moisturizer is becoming a moot point, at least as far as facial skin care is concerned. These days most people use advanced skin care products with active ingredients aimed at preventing or reducing the signs of skin aging. It is often redundant and counterproductive to apply both a moisturizer and an anti-aging product. Besides, most anti-aging products contain some moisturizing ingredients. People with oily and normal skin can forego basic moisturizers and use anti-aging products only. Dry skin sufferers may be able to do the same by picking an anti-aging product with a sufficiently moisturizing base. In the remaining cases of severely dry skin, a moisturizer should be applied a few minutes after the anti-aging product (to allow active ingredients to absorb).

Antiaging Skincare Basic Step 2: Toning

March 22, 2010

Toning is often touted as an essential step in a skin care routine. It is not. At least not always. The only exception is very oily skin. If you have oily skin and after cleansing it remains sticky or oily, you might benefit from applying toner after cleansing. Otherwise toning may do more harm than good.

Most toners contain alcohol and/or witch hazel. Both are drying and irritating, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. If you still feel you need a toner, use a soothing toner free of alcohol or witch hazel, such as alcohol-free toner with Chamomile. Alcohol-containing products are NOT suitable for all skin for toning!

You do not want to strip every last molecule of oil from your skin. Only grime, makeup and excess oil on the surface needs to be removed. The underlying thin coat of fresh sebum is best left undisturbed. Toners, especially alcohol-based ones, tend to strip everything off, leaving the skin dry and/or irritated. Toner helps you maintain suitable pH of your skin.

Timeless Prescription™ MDI Firming Activator

Timeless Prescription™ MDI Firming Activator

Some experts argue that toners help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, thus reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. Whether this is true is debatable. Even assuming it is, most people finish their skin care routine by applying skin care products with active ingredients, in which case you actually want as much penetration as possible. Preceding an active treatment with a toner that closes pores and tightens cell gaps may be counterproductive. After the active product has absorbed into your skin, you can close pores simply by cooling your face. The cold constricts blood vessels and closes pores, producing a toning effect. You can simply step outside if it is a cold time of the year or gently pat your skin with a cold pack (refrigerated but not frozen) for a few seconds. If you are not using any active products, you can tone after cleansing by wiping your face with a chip of frozen green tea. The cold from the ice helps close your pores; the caffeine and tannins in the tea help tighten skin and reduce puffiness; and green tea polyphenols may provide antioxidant benefits. But don’t overuse the cold – frequent excessive cooling may increase the risk of developing rosacea (stubborn skin redness).
